A day full of randomness (A $10 Challenge) November 20, 2011

As planned, yesterday afternoon, Gee and I decided to have a challenge. $10 challenge it is! We planned to just go to some random place here in Singapore and just spend $10 maximum for the whole trip. We cannot use our regular MRT cards so we have to get one way tickets. Good thing had the best brunch ever! We had cheese omelette, hashbrowns and fried anchovies with garlic fried rice soaked in COFFEE! (I bet you’d say gross, but seriously, you guys are missing half of your life if you haven’t tried that!)
We wanted to go to this island on the north side of Singapore called Pulau Ubin but it’d take 2-hours to go there and it was already 2pm so we decided to just ride the MRT and go to Singapore Botanic Gardens. We spent $1.90 for the one way ticket and I bought a bottle of water for $1.30. I could’ve just drank from the drinking fountain but I already bought one. What a waste :)
I had this strong feeling that despite we went to Botanic Gardens, we will still end up going to Orchard (which ALWAYS happen!). Guess what? We walked from the end gate (Holland Road) all the way to Orchard Road. So, if you add up the distance, that’d take about 3km (this includes the stroll inside the Garden. It was tiring but I actually didn’t feel tired until I saw the malls. Heh~
As usual, we went straight to ION Orchard! I don’t know but our feet automatically drag us to ION everytime we’re in Orchard. Probably because I am stalking someone from Prada ION AND because of Sephora. It’s funny because every time we enter Sephora, we look extremely wasted but once we get out of that place, we’re all galmed up. Okay, just me.
Anyway, prior to going in to ION, this person I’ve been trying to stalk randomly showed up in the store. That was not expected. The fangirl in me has gone crazy for about a minute or so. Then, we decided to get this one dollar ice cream and some water. And then there’s this random guy who approached me and asked if he can take a photo of me. I was like ‘What the…’ but I still agreed. I look wasted and all and I can feel the awkwardness in my smile. Really, that’s one weird guy!
We then decided to check out other malls– we were supposed to go to Paragon but the street performers are too lovely to ignore. And I tipped them my spare 10cents (haha cheap!). And to add up to that, there were these aunties (they are Filipinas) who were dancing. So we decided to just stay and watch and ditch Paragon, hehe. And randomly, out of nowhere there’s this kiddo who came to us and then he grabbed my phone just because. And he started taking photos of us. He’s too cute! He speaks Singlish but he’s Filipino! :)
Also, last night was the first day they lit up Orchard Road, and oh lord, that was lovely! It’s Christmas already!!! Sorry there are no photos as our camera and phones were dead already.
